APPLICATIONS FOR DEGREE COURSES

Entry requirements

Applicants straight from university will be required to have at least a 2:2 degree in a relevant discipline.  For applicants with some years’ industrial experience, a lesser qualification may be acceptable.  However each application will be considered individually, the main criterion being the judgment of the registering institution that the potential student has a good chance of completing the programme successfully.  Entry requirements for the MSc, PG Diploma and PG Certificate are the same.  Applicants whose first language is not English must have achieved one of the following levels of proficiency:

IELTS – 7.0  TOEFL – 600  (Computer based 250) Cambridge CPE – Grade C

Entry requirements for the MSc, PG Diploma and PG Certificate are the same.

Part time UK students only - we will accept a lower qualification of HNC as long as you have at least 7 years work experience within the Nuclear Industry.

Application process

Not all members of the Nuclear Technology Education Consortium will register students for the purposes of awarding qualifications.   Prospective students may seek to register at one of the following Consortium members:

The University of Liverpool

The University of Manchester

The University of Sheffield

PART-TIME STUDENTS

When applying for the Distance Learning Programme, please select "Part-Time Option" online then type "Distance Learning" in the box provided.

Bursary programme

The National Skills Academy for Nuclear in partnership with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is rolling out a fourth round of their Bursary award scheme. The scheme provides students Bursary awards in the region of £500 - £4,000. These awards are made to individuals who most successful demonstrate how they meet the Bursary criteria.

The scheme is aimed at quality individuals on programmes of study relevant to the decommissioning sub sector of the nuclear industry and includes Foundation Degrees, Honours Degrees, Masters Degrees and Post graduate CPD qualifications. The programme aims to attract a broader mix of new entrants into the nuclear industry and into the wider Science and Technology agenda, leading to increased diversity and opportunity in the sector.

All forms are to be received by the Skills Academy no later than 5pm on the 5th March 2010. Applications are welcome from both new students’ and students’ part way through their course.

Students wishing to attend individual modules only are not required to undertake the application process described above for degree courses.
